Mountain Light Retreat Reviews

TESTIMONIAL for Mountain Light

One’s experience with Mountain Light Retreat in Crozet begins with Debbie Scott or lovely people she’s put in place. The energy is inviting, inclusive, welcoming, and conducive to accomplishing what retreat centers are meant to do: enter the liminal space of spirit. The environment itself is beautiful; it’s hard to beat the Blue Ridge foothills any time of year. Debbie has intentionally removed denominational markings, and many different faiths and practices utilize this space. The food served in the dining hall is always complimented; the kitchen easily provides for any dietary needs. I can’t say enough good about Mountain Light! The pilgrimage begins on the drive out, and I am so happy it’s in my backyard. I feel privileged to be able to present my work there. Thank you, Debbie, for following your dream! We all benefit.

My experience hosting a retreat at Mountain Light was incredible.  We had a handful of participants come from cities and suburban areas who said they’d never experienced such nourishing silence.  We decided to spend extra time during our retreat sitting outdoors and observing this beautiful silence, surrounded by majestic mountains and stunning stars.  All the accommodations were wonderful; everything was clean and comfortable for everyone who attended.  Mountain Light is a truly magical place and we will be back hosting many retreats to come.

I’ve been leading retreats both domestically and internationally for 15 years.  I was thrilled to find Mountain Light Retreat Center in Crozet, VA, to lead both day and weekend retreats.

Mountain Light did not disappoint.  From the stunning light filled church where I led daily yoga practice to the Emerson House, cozying up by the wood stove.  The lovely dining room and full kitchen created all the ambience for enjoying meals.

Debbie, our host, covered every detail to make our stay comfortable.  Relaxing in the Adirondack chairs by the fire pit, gazing out at the mountain view, walking the labyrinth, or listening to the wind chimes, Mountain Light is simply the best.

We held an overnight retreat at Mountain Light for a group of about 20 women from our congregation and I can't recommend the retreat center highly enough. Debbie was so helpful in showing us the facilities and answering any questions we had ahead of time. Everyone in the group noted the staff's thoughtful details, from comfortable mattresses to well stocked kitchen to freshly shoveled sidewalks. There are a variety of lovely gathering spaces for small groups and the chapel was the perfect flexible space to accommodate our larger circle gathering, a group yoga class and walking the labyrinth. We hope to be back as a group many times and have highly recommended Mountain Light for solo retreats as well.
