In the 4th and 5th centuries after Christ, hundreds, then thousands of Christians went into the deserts of Palestine, Syria, and Egypt. We know them as the Desert Mothers and Fathers. Today, in monasteries all over the world, monks and nuns still take a “desert day” to rest, renew, and touch base with their deepest spiritual selves. You, too, are invited to come way for your own “Desert Day.” Encounter the wisdom of silence, receive a “word” from the desert tradition, and gain some perspective for the living of your life.
Arrive at 8 am for a day of work, rest, study and prayer, including times for holy conversation and mindful quiet. Vegetarian breakfast and lunch provided. Expect to leave by 5 pm.
